  • An estimated 8 to14 million Americans claim to have had a near death experience
  • It's a growing field of research in areas of hospital medicine, psychology and psychiatry
  • Earliest accounts of the near death experience can be traced back to Plato's "The Republic" written in the 4th century BC
  • The near death experience was brought to mainstream awareness by the work of psychiatrist Raymond Moody in 1975


FACTS: THE OTHER SIDE


  • Visualizing or experiencing being apart from the physical body, with the ability to change locations
  • Greatly enhanced cognition (thoughts very clear, rapid, and hyper-lucid)
  • A darkness or light that is perceived as alive, intelligent and powerful
  • Sensation of movement and/or a sense of presence (hyperalert faculties)
  • Encounter with an identified deceased person or animal, or an encounter with a non-physical entity
  • A tunnel or gateway experience and sense of moving up, or through, a passageway
  • Experiencing unconditional love or encountering a being with unconditional love
  • Receiving a review of the life lived up to the point of death
  • A realization that one's purpose on earth is not yet finished and a reluctance to return
